French Immersion (FI)

Requirements

A certificate in French Immersion will be granted by the school if the student has successfully completed the sequence of four (4) courses in Français (French Immersion - FIF) and six (6) courses in other subjects taught in French.

French Language Credit Options

French Immersion (4 total)

  • Grade Nine -- FIF 1D
  • Grade Ten -- FIF 2D
  • Grade Eleven -- FIF 3U
  • Grade Twelve -- FIF 4U
Other Subjects (6 total)

Junior Credits:

Year One Year Two
Drama (gr 9 and 10)
Civics and Careers (gr 10)
Geography (gr. 9)
History (gr. 10)





Senior Credits
:

  • Sociology (HSB 4UL) -- Grade 12 (NEW)
Additional Options
  • Co-operative education -- placement in one of our elementary French Immersion classrooms
  • e-Learning -- a wide assortment of French-language credit options are available through our Provincial e-Learning portal (PRISM). This also has the added benefit of satisfying the graduation requirement of two (2) e-Learning attempts.

French Immersion Team meets to set plans for next school year.

December
French Immersion Plan is set and entered into the Course Calendar

January
Students select the French Immersion course options in myBlueprint

May
Transition Day (FI students are given a special tour of the school)

June
Timetables are struck and distributed to students.
